La Folia or Folias were originally dances tunes in 3/4 from Spain and Portugal. They are based around a chord sequence (Dmin, A, Dmin, C, F, C, Dmin, A7 || Dm, A, Dmin, C, F, C, Dmin, A7 D maj). It is a pattern that lends itself to inprovised variations and became a favourite of baroque composers including Vivaldi and Scarlatti. To our knowledge, it is the only tune that has an entire website dedicated to it!
